Amsterdam Gay Pride 2006
The Amsterdam Gay Pride Canal Parade was held on Saturday August 5th,with only 40 boats participating.Although it was one of the smallest yet, it still drew huge crowds of on-lookers. Apparently there was some infighting amongst the organizers who had to struggle for funding at the last minute, but the show went on as planned with events and several all night parties. Now for anyone coming from San Francisco, this is almost a "PG-13" version with little nudity in the public eye, which I found to be surprising. Although Amsterdam is touted as being liberal about such issues as prostitution , marijuana and nude beaches....the women seem to have some unwritten law against going braless or wearing bikini tops.
